How this ranking was built
The ranked field is the listed entry-plan monthly price for 10 US employees, taken from each vendor’s own pricing page, checked 28 September 2026. The monthly cost is the listed base fee plus 10 times the listed per-person fee. Figures are US dollars as each vendor lists them. We added no sales tax. Our research methodology sets the sourcing rules behind every figure.
The vendor set comes from the competitor lists that rank for the search “rippling competitors”. Rippling’s own list names seven of the eight competitors checked here: TriNet, ADP, Gusto, BambooHR, Paylocity, Deel and Justworks.8 Paylocity’s list adds HiBob.9
- Pages captured: 9, one pricing page each for Rippling and eight competitors.
- Competitors with a listed price for a 10-person US team: 4. Gusto, Justworks, BambooHR and Deel.
- Ranked rows: 5. Justworks appears twice because it sells payroll software and a PEO.
- Vendors with no captured price: 5. Rippling, ADP, Paylocity, TriNet and HiBob.
The inclusion rule takes each product’s lowest listed plan for US W-2 employees. Three plan types fall outside it. Gusto’s contractor-only plan serves businesses that have not hired W-2 employees.1 Employer-of-record plans serve staff outside the US; Justworks and Deel each list theirs at $599 per employee a month.2,4 Contractor plans pay contractors, not employees. No rows were merged.
Rippling competitors ranked by monthly cost for 10 US employees
| Rank | Vendor | Plan | Product type | Listed price | Monthly cost for 10 US employees (US$) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Gusto | Simple | Payroll software | $49/mo + $6/mo per person1 | 109 |
| 2 | Justworks | Payroll | Payroll software | $8/month/employee + $50/month base fee2 | 130 |
| 3 | BambooHR | Flat rate, 25 employees or fewer | HR software (payroll sold separately) | from $250 USD/mo3 | 250 |
| 4 | Justworks | PEO Basic | PEO | $79/month/employee, no base fee2 | 790 |
| 5 | Deel | US PEO | PEO | $125 per US PEO employee per month4 | 1,250 |
The cheapest payroll software is Gusto Simple at $109. The cheapest PEO is Justworks PEO Basic at $790. BambooHR is the only HR software row, at $250.
Read the rows by type before reading them by rank. Rows 1 and 2 pay staff and file payroll tax. Row 3 keeps employee records and runs HR processes, with payroll priced separately. Rows 4 and 5 co-employ the staff. A $109 payroll plan and a $1,250 PEO plan buy different jobs, so the rank orders cost and leaves the choice of product type to the buyer.
What does Rippling cost for 10 employees?
Rippling lists no price. Its pricing page asks what services a company needs and returns a custom quote.5 Rippling says most of its products bill per employee per month, and some carry or include a monthly base fee.5 Each HR, Finance and IT product sits on top of the required Rippling Platform.5
A 10-person Rippling bill is therefore the Rippling Platform plus each module, and no part of it has a public price. Figures do circulate. Paylocity’s competitor list cites a third-party page for a Rippling base price of $8 per employee per month.9 Multiplier states that Rippling’s model often includes $8 per employee for HRIS and $15 for benefits administration.7 Both figures come from companies that compete with Rippling. Rippling’s own page confirms neither, so neither enters the ranking.
The practical test is a quote on the same scope as the ranked rows. Ask for single-state payroll and tax filing for 10 US W-2 employees, then add each module the team needs as a separate line.
Which Rippling competitors publish no price?
ADP, Paylocity, TriNet and HiBob showed no price at their pricing addresses on 28 September 2026. Each page failed to show a price in a different way.
| Vendor | What it sells | What the pricing address showed on 28 September 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Paylocity | HR and payroll software10 | A “Request Pricing with a Free Demo” form and an invitation to contact sales10 |
| ADP | RUN payroll; a PEO under the TotalSource name11 | A “Page Not Found (Error 404)” page with a sales phone number11 |
| TriNet | PEO and outsourced HR services12 | A not-found page that sends visitors back to the home page12 |
| HiBob | HR software with core HR, hiring and payroll modules13 | A demo request form with no plan or price13 |
A missing price is a missing number. It says nothing about whether the quote will land above or below the ranked rows. This check covered one pricing address per vendor, so a price published at another address would not appear here.
ADP and TriNet deserve a second request. Their pricing addresses returned error pages, so the failure sits with the page. ADP’s error page still lists a sales phone number, and TriNet’s still offers a demo booking.11,12
What is the difference between payroll software, a PEO and HR software?
Glamdring Research separates the ranking into three product types because each price buys a different job. Payroll software pays staff and files payroll tax for the business.1 A PEO enters a co-employment relationship with the business and takes on payroll, benefits, HR and compliance work.8 HR software holds employee records and runs HR processes. At BambooHR, payroll is a separate add-on.3
Justworks shows the gap on one vendor’s page. Its Payroll plan costs $130 a month for 10 employees. Its PEO Basic plan costs $790 for the same 10 people and lists HR consulting and 24/7 support among its features.2 PEO Plus adds medical, dental and vision administration.2 Justworks also marks workers’ compensation access as required for its PEO.2 Deel describes its US PEO as co-employment across all 50 US states with benefits included.4
The decision changes with what the business already has. A 10-person team with a benefits broker and someone handling HR compares payroll software. A team with neither compares PEO totals against payroll plus the separate cost of benefits and HR help. BambooHR fits a third case: a team that wants HR records and processes and will price payroll separately.
What does the next plan up cost for 10 US employees?
The next plan up costs $200 a month at Gusto and $1,240 at Justworks PEO for 10 US employees. Gusto Plus lists $80 plus $12 per person and adds multi-state payroll.1 Gusto Premium lists $180 plus $22 per person, or $400 for 10.1 Justworks PEO Plus lists $124 per employee.2
| Vendor and plan | Listed price | Monthly cost for 10 US employees (US$) |
|---|---|---|
| Gusto Plus | $80/mo + $12/mo per person1 | 200 |
| Gusto Premium | $180/mo + $22/mo per person1 | 400 |
| Justworks PEO Plus | $124/month/employee2 | 1,240 |
Multi-state payroll alone moves a team from Gusto Simple to Plus, and the bill rises from $109 to $200. BambooHR’s flat rate holds to 25 employees. Above that it charges $10, $17 or $25 per employee per month for Core, Pro and Elite.3 Add-ons move the totals too. Justworks lists time tracking at $8 per employee a month, which adds $80 for 10 people.2
Why do other published prices for these vendors disagree?
The competitor lists that rank for this search quote prices that differ from the vendor pages checked 28 September 2026. We cannot see when each list copied its figures, so the vendor page settles every row.
- Brex’s list puts Gusto Simple at $40 a month plus $6 per person.6 Gusto’s page lists $49.1
- Brex’s list says BambooHR doesn’t publish detailed pricing.6 BambooHR’s page lists a $250 flat rate and per-employee prices above 25 staff.3
- Multiplier’s list puts Justworks PEO Plus at $109 per employee.7 Justworks lists $124.2
- Paylocity’s list shows Gusto Premium at custom pricing and BambooHR as custom.9 Both vendors list those prices on their own pages.1,3
Promotions add a second source of disagreement. Gusto discounts its contractor-only base fee to $0 for the first 6 months.1 BambooHR offers payroll subscription fees at $0 through 31 December 2026 to eligible buyers who commit to a 12-month agreement.3 Deel credits three months of platform fees on qualifying PEO order forms with a minimum two-year term.4 Each offer changes a first-year bill. None changes the listed price, so the ranking leaves them out.
What the ranking cannot tell you
The ranking compares listed prices, and a listed price is the vendor’s own statement. A signed quote can differ. The figures leave out five things that change a real bill.
- Insurance premiums and workers’ compensation costs around a PEO fee. Confirm whether they sit inside the per-employee fee or on top of it.
- State tax registration, which Gusto prices by state.1
- BambooHR payroll, which carries no listed price.3
- Volume discounts, which BambooHR applies automatically by headcount.3
- Workday, Paychex, Paycom and Paycor. They appear on competitor lists,9 but their pricing pages sit outside this check.
Feature fit sits outside the ranking too. The cheapest row may lack a function the team needs, and the rank cannot show that. For other software comparisons built on the same sourcing rules, see Glamdring’s published research.
